- The word “Kantha” itself comes from the Sanskrit “kantha”, which means “rags”. This technique has a rich history and is said to date back over a thousand years, dating back to ancient India. In addition to its aesthetic value, the kantha also had a symbolic meaning, since it was believed that it protected the wearer from the evil eye and expressed the affection of the wearer towards their loved ones.
